Paid traffic comes from the use of ads on the search engines. These are placed at the top of results, based on the search terms that individuals use. It’s very clear that your term is a paid ad, as it has “ad” written on them.
All the ads are pay per click. So, you end up paying for any traffic that comes to your site. It doesn’t matter if they buy from your site or not. You’ve paid for the honour of getting the traffic to your website. If nobody clicks on the ad, you won’t pay for the ad placement.

Absolutely! While there are other methods of getting in front of eyes, search engines are still essential for any long-term online business. You need to improve your page rank and get your content into those top spots. Whether you do that organically or through paid placements is completely up to you.
