- Overall Rating: 4/5
What is Giving Assistant?
Giving Assistant is a company that gives you cash back and coupon codes when shopping via their online portal.
When you purchase a product via the cashback platform, the merchant pays a commission to Giving Assistant. Then, 50% of the commission is paid back to the customer (you) as an incentive.
There are over 3,000 stores you can buy from including Walmart, Nancy’s and Target.
Although Giving Assistant is a for-profit organization, their mission is to encourage charitable actions and raise $17 millions for charities across the United States by 2020.
They plan to accomplish this goal by making it easy for shoppers to donate their cashback earnings.
So, when you purchase a product via Giving Assistant, you have not only the option to redeem in cash rewards, but you can also donate to nonprofits of your choice.
Their biggest donation to date was $250,000 to Zidisha, which is a microlending platform for entrepreneurs in poor countries. Nice!
Is Giving Assistant a Scam?
Giving Assistant works the same way as another cashback program, so the business model is legitimate.
It’s important to mention that the company is BBB accredited (A+) and is also proud to be a Certified B Corp.
A Certified B Corp means the company meets the highest standards of environmental and social performance.
Complaints
I have seen some complaints in other reviews sites, but I am confident they are exceptions.
When you sign up with any reward program, it’s essential to read the terms and conditions carefully to make sure you are not violating anything.
For example, cash back programs don’t allow users to purchase lots of products to resell. So, if you buy let’s say 20 products at once, your account can be flagged.
Also, it’s important to clear your browser’s cookies prior to clicking through to Giving Assistant. The reason being that a cookie from other websites can interfere with the Giving Assistant’s, which will prevent you from getting the cashback.
How Does it Work?
Registering with Giving Assistant is free and straightforward. You can sign up using your Facebook account or email address.
Before browsing the platform, clear your browser cookies to make sure cookies from other sites won’t interfere.
Choose from thousands of stores by either browsing the list or by typing the name of the store in the search bar.
Then, click on the store’s link.
Note that before Giving Assistant directs you to the merchant’s site, they quickly show you a page that confirms the cash back is activated.
In this page, right at the bottom, there are exclusions to the offer.
For example, these are the current exclusions if you decide to purchase from Walmart:
Companies have different cash back exclusions, so it’s crucial to read that fine print.
Visit the previous page that was open, and now you will see a list of coupon codes as well as great deals to save more money.
Install the Giving Assistant Extension
Giving Assistant has a useful browser extension available for Chrome and Safari.
To install it, click on the menu and then “Button.”
When you are shopping online, the extension will notify you in case the store you are browsing is offering any cash backs and dodeals.
When you are searching for a store or product on Google, Yahoo or Bing, the extension also adds a logo to identify the cash back opportunity.
Upgrade
If you make lots of purchases online, you may find that upgrading your account is worth the investment.
By paying $5.99 of your annual cash back earnings, you will get:
- Double the cash back
- Faster payment
- Customizable payment options
- First-in-line customer service
Referral Program
When you join Giving Assistant, you will get a unique referral link that you can use to invite other people to join.
When people join through your link, they become your referral, and you will get $5 once they earn cash back.
Donate or Get Paid
If you want to donate, select any nonprofit organization and the percentage of your Cash Back you want to donate. You can give any percentage between 0% and 100%.
You can also cash out via Paypal or eCheck when you reach the minimum balance requirement of $5.99.
I recommend you read the terms and conditions to know more details.
Conclusion
Giving Assistant is a reputable cashback platform that you can use both to save money and help charities. I am confident it’s not a scam!
Verdict: Legit
Earning Money Online is MUCH Better than Saving!
Earning cash back is okay, but have you ever thought about making money online instead of just saving on purchases?
I’ve been growing my internet business for the last 3 years. I started from scratch with no previous experience and very little capital.
Still, I reached incredible results thanks to an excellent step by step training that taught me how to earn passive income with a website.
You see, a website works for your 24 hours, 7 days a week. So, you can be enjoying the beach in Thailand and still earn money on autopilot.
If you do it the right way, it’s like building a money tree that keeps growing.
Eventually, you can reach a full-time income and kiss your 9-5 job goodbye!
Thanks for checking out my Giving Assistant review. If you have any question, let me know in comment section below and I will be more than glad to help.
See ya!

Almost all of their coupons are expired
I tried Giving Assistant for the H and M Canada website and the website log me out of my account…As a tried again to connect, I receive a message from H and M telling me that it has been suspended due to a suspected fraudulent activity….
So… the H and M system detect Giving Assistant as a scamming Website or IDK.
Anyway, If you’re from Canada I do not recommend it to you at all…
This is a scam! I tried the coupons provided for Cheaper Then Dirt. None worked or were valid
SCAM. I earned cash back and they sent me a echeck to print to be cashed at my bank. I cashed it and the next week I rec’d notice from my bank stating their bank account which the echeck was issued from was closed or suspended! Their “help” email is not valid either… tried emailing for help and the email was returned back not found. [email protected]
DON’T waste you time with them.
